Visit: Windsor, Stratford-Upon-Avon, The Cotswolds, Oxford

Day 1: Windsor Castle

The tour sets off from London Paddington Railway Station. After convening on Platform 1 we embark the bus for the one hour journey to Windsor. The charming town has a regal history and is full of traditional English pubs. Of course no day in Windsor would not be complete without a visit to Windsor Castle which provided the backdrop to the royal wedding celebrations of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May 2017. Overnight: Moreton-in-Marsh.

Hike: 7-10km - From the middle of Windsor Great Park we walk the 4.8 km directly into the castle itself. Pass through enchanting woodlands, floral gardens and walk the iconic tree lined avenue right up to the castle doors.
Bike: 16-24km - Bike through Windsor, straight to the Castle.

Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Stratford-upon-Avon

This morning we traverse through the North Cotswolds. Before arriving in Stratford-upon-Avon we will stop in the small market town of Chipping Campden, known for its elegant terraced high street. Onward we go to Hidcote Gardens, a series of colourful sections filled with different species of flowers and plants. Next we journey to Stratford-Upon-Avon. The market town was home to the great Bard, William Shakespeare. Overnight: Moreton-in-Marsh.
Please note: With advance booking there is the opportunity to watch a play at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Hike: 7-13km - After a leisurely 6.4 km walk through the North Cotswolds we take the support vehicle to the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon. A tranquil walk along the River Avon will take us into the town centre.
Bike: 32-65km - In addition to cycling through the North Cotswolds to Stratford-Upon-Avon, it is possible to bike back from there to the hotel for a total of 62.8 km. Alternatively, ride back in the support vehicle and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 3: The Cotswolds

The day will be spent within the serene Cotswolds where picturesque villages are dotted among rolling green hills. Our first stop is Broadway Tower, an impressive structure which is the second highest point in the Cotswolds. Next we visit the nearby Snowshill village, a real gem in the Cotswolds crown. We then wind our way through The Slaughters to Bourton-on-the-Water, the Cotswolds’ answer to ‘Little Venice’. Overnight: Moreton-in-Marsh.

Hike: 6-12km - Here there are two options to choose from. Either walk the whole route or follow a cut down programme which ends earlier with more time to relax back at the hotel in the afternoon.
Bike: 32-56km - Our relaxed route through the Cotswolds involves plenty of breaks.

Day 4: Blenheim Palace

UNESCO World Heritage Site Blenheim Palace has it all. As the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill it has an illustrious history, boast stunning architecture and stunning gardens. After spending the day in the vicinity of the palace, we end the day at the Lamb Inn in Burford. Overnight: Burford.

Hike: 6-12km - Our route takes us through the stunning 2,000 acre Blenheim estate for either a 4.8 or 11.2 km route.
Bike: 32-72km - Our route takes us through the Cotswolds, right into the palace grounds.

Day 5: The Cotswolds & Oxford

We continue through the Cotswolds today, stopping in the ancient village of Bampton where the outdoor scenes for the hit show Downton Abbey were filmed. On reaching Oxford in the afternoon, enjoy a tour of the university town and consider visiting its prestigious colleges. Overnight: Burford.

Hike: 6-12km - The support vehicle will take us from Bampton to Oxford. We will walk into the centre of the city via the River Thames and Port Meadow. Choose between a longer 11.2 km walk, or go for the shorter 6.4 km option and have a lie-in.
Bike: 32-49km - Enjoy a flatter route through the Cotswolds.

Day 6: Cotswolds & Highclere Castle

Our first stop is at White Horse Hill, a mound emblazoned with a white chalk horse. Enjoy the view over the bronze-age artwork before heading to Avebury stone circle, the largest henge monument in the UK. To complete the Neolithic day we also visit Stonehenge, which still remains very much a mystery. Between July and mid-September it will be possible to visit Highclere Castle, the stoic star of Downton Abbey. Overnight: Tetbury.

Hike: 4-16km - After seeing White Horse Hill we will also venture to the nearby Wayland Smithy, a Neolithic long barrow and chamber. Afterwards the support vehicle will take us to Avebury.
Bike: 32-49km

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7: Bath

Today will be spent in lovely Bath. Its Georgian architecture, ancient Roman Baths and literary ties to Jane Austen make it truly unmissable. Overnight: Tetbury.

Hike: 6-16km - The route into Bath is a rather spectacular one. Walk or cycle down an old Roman road right into the heart of the city. The support vehicle will be on hand for the journey back to the hotel.

Day 8: The South Cotswolds & Lacock

The final day of the tour gets off to a late start. We travel through the South Cotswolds to the pretty village of Lacock. Wandering through the National Trust owned village, you will feel like you have stepped back in time. The main streets look much like they did 200 years ago. After a leisurely lunch, we visit the 13th century abbey, situated amidst tranquil grounds. Afterwards, we transfer to the nearest mainline railway station for the 1 hour journey back to London.

Hike: 6km - After a later than normal start, wake up with a final walk through the lovely Cotswolds landscapes.
Bike: 32-48km - Take in the scenery as we go for one last ride through the Cotswolds plains.
