Meet your guide and small group of no more than 8 people in central Bordeaux and travel by minivan to your first destination – a Grand Cru winery in the Saint Emilion wine region. Learn the secrets of Saint Émilion’s famous red wines, the importance of ‘terroir’ and the art of producing ‘Grand Cru’ wines on a guided tour of the winery. After strolling the vineyards and peeking into the barrel room, head to the tasting room to sample a variety of fine wines. Continue to the hilltop village of Saint-Emilion and soak up the atmosphere on a walking tour, admiring the medieval architecture, maze of cobbled lanes and spectacular views over the surrounding vineyards. In the village, stop at a local wine cellar for another tasting and perhaps sample famous varietals like Merlot and Cabernet France. Enjoy a tour of Grand Cru winery, with a one-of-a-kind tasting that you’ll only be able to do on this tour – compare the château wine with 3 wines from elsewhere in the world to better understand the meaning of “terroir” (only from November to March). You’ll make one more stop before heading back to Bordeaux – at a family-run winery, where the wine tasting will be paired with a selection of regional cheeses and cured meats. Finally, with your appetite sated and a newfound appreciation of French wine, return to Bordeaux, where your tour ends back in the city centre.

Head for the waterfront of the Garonne River near the city centre of Bordeaux to climb aboard the awaiting river boat and begin your lunchtime cruise. Enjoy a 'welcome aboard' apéritif as you get settled into your seat. The Garonne River, one of the longest in France, cuts through Bordeaux and the famous wine country that surrounds it. This makes it a particularly scenic waterway, either in the countryside or in the UNESCO-listed city of Bordeaux. As you float along the river, gaze out at the beautiful buildings along Bordeaux's waterfront. Drift past the 18th-century square called Place de la Bourse, designed by an architect working for King Louis XV. See the arch at Porte de Bourgogne on Quai Richelieu, glide underneath the Pont de Pierre and check out the impressive spire atop the Basilica of St Michael. During the cruise, feast on a 3-course lunch prepared right on board the boat. The menu changes with the seasons, using seasonal and local ingredients in the dishes, but a sample menu is listed in the Itinerary section below. After the boat goes underneath the Pont d'Aquitaine and reaches the Château Grattequina, it turns around and goes back the other way toward the starting point, where the cruise ends after three hours.
