This trip is a mixture of historical interest that stirs the imagination as well as memorable walking through landscapes of immense natural beauty including lush rolling hills, unspoilt mountains and valleys. The trails pass through a whole variety of terrains where each day is different and the vegetation is fragrant and often full of colour. Discover good local food, robust Languedoc wines and a part of the Pyrenees that has a strong Mediterranean influence, together with secret trails and Castles of the Châteaux Cathares. Today, fly to Carcassonne (individually), a charming Medieval City with a fascinating history. Here, you will spend the first night of your tour.
After breakfast, we recommend you explore Carcassonne and follow the city walk between two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, The Canal du Midi and the Cité de Carcassonne. In the City don't miss the visit of the Cathedral and have a look at the wonderful Château Comtal, a well preserved Medieval Castle. Overnight stay in Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse. Meals: Breakfast

Today, our trail departs from Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse and leads through the fragrant vegetation and past rolling vineyards to arrive at the very prestigious Castle of Queribus. Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, depart the Domaine du Bouchard to walk to the village of Rennes-les-Bains, which is set in the prettiest of country spots. Meals: Breakfast
Today, you will depart Rennes-les-Bains this morning and walk along the river, through forests and past the enchanting Rennes-le-Château until you reach the peaceful hamlet of Port de Pailhères. Meals: Breakfast
Today, after breakfast, the trail leads through varied terrain, often forested, and a succession of small villages. The local communities are welcoming and time seems to have stood still in the squares of sleepy villages such as Saint-Ferriol or Saint-Julia-de-Bec. As you arrive in the town you will pass the ruins of the Castle dating from the 13th Century, which offers interesting panoramic views. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, depending on the time of your flights, you may have time for a circular walk from Quillan before making your way back by train to Carcassonne for your return flight home or onward journey. Meals: Breakfast
